1) Go over the tutorial at http://www.cwru.edu/help/introHTML/intro.html It's a little old (1997) but it's very basic so it doesn't matter. 2) Download http://www-stat.wharton/upenn.edu/~buja/index.html look at it and comment for yourself what the tags do. 3) Familiarize yourself with HTML by writing a web page that contains a dummy example of every syntax construct listed above. 4) Publish your own course web page public_html/540.html on ljsavage. Content: a) your own picture (if you don't have one, get it emailed from the UPenn office that issues ID cards) b) your own educational background in statistics and computing, and your interests c) a list containing - an anchor to your emacs-edited file hw-emacs.txt - an anchor to your html file with dummy examples 5) Optional: write your own professional web page public_html/index.html which will be accessible from the outside as http://www-stat.wharton.upenn.edu/~yourloginnameonljsavage/ Files "index.html" are defaults when a directory is the target.
