Comments for Presenters
- Powerpoint, 10 minutes.
- "Teams" of size one should shave a minute off of this if at all possible.
- Even if you have done your work individually so far, you can still form a two person team for the project!
- Have your presentation ready for Web access (e.g. mail to yourself)
- Our class is scheduled for 80 minutes (1:30-2:50), so even if we press to 3:00, we are very tight!
- The first presentation will start exactly at 1:30 (with presentation loaded by 1:28).
- Your audience knows pretty much what you know, so you can go directly to the heart of the matter --- this saves a lot of time.
- You should have already organized your data and done some EDA
- What you need to have
- Well posed, clear questions for investigation
- Clear view of any criterion for judging the success, or nonsuccess of a strategy (if appropriate)
- Some preliminary steps checked off
- Citations of any sources that are relevant
Comments for Listeners
- Your colleagues count on your participation in their presentation.
- This year there will not be much time for questions --- but I will make notes and send emails if I see a "problem"
- In my experience, a lot of very interesting material gets covered very quickly in these presentation.
- You can learn as much or more from these as from any class this term.
- Every project you hear about will suggest to you how you can make yours better.
